Our warm thanks to everyone for making the May 14 Anti-Social a smashing good time! Through the mysterious alchemy of mixing the wonderful music of Rick Shaw Monkey with the welcoming vibe of The Grove at Juniper and the kindness of many strangers— we somehow managed to raise over $200.00 toward the D3Art medical bills! Gosh, had we known that being socially responsible was so much fun we would have started doing it a long time ago!

District3 was a new and vibrant art gallery in the Golden Hill community of San Diego. On the night of March 19th, 2004, the gallery's founders were victims of a violent robbery.

Read the post-attack story in Fahrenheit.

The attack resulted in the closing of the gallery, a loss of the owners' investment in the neighborhood, and a loss to the neighborhood. The owners, without medical insurance (we're talking artists here, folks), now have substantial hospital/medical bills.

The May 14th Writers Monthly Anti-Social Event is free and open to all—and is dedicated to raising money to help the people who dreamed of making District 3 the cultural heart of the Golden Hill Neighborhood that they loved, and still love.

We ask you to join us in expressing our support and admiration and love for the people who created District3, who inspired us by daring to live true to their dreams and share the generosity of their spirit.

Come to our May 14 event. Support our host, The Grove Bookstore, and treat your mind, by buying a book. Thank the band, Rick Shaw Monkey, and put music into your life, by purchasing their new CD. Help out Tim McCormick and Joshua Krause of District3 Art Gallery recover their lives and get back to making art, by making a cash or check donation.

There will be free wine, free food, free music, and many, many good people to be with.

Donations can also be mailed to:
